FOMMM

History and Background

FOMMM was started by Andy and Victoria Schmelzer after much prayer, encouragement, and the prompting of the Holy Spirit after their second trip to Ghana.   Andy felt the call to missions as a teen when he read Mark 16:15, as it told him to take the gospel to all creation.  Victoria has been doing missions since 1984 and has had the desire to help the poor since a small child.

Target Audience

The target audience of FOMMM is the mission field the Lord leads us to.  We go to areas that we can share the gospel with the lost, teach biblical evangelism to Christians, and treat the poor and oppressed medically.  We live in a lost and dieing world.  The harvest is ripe but the laborers are few.  Join us to seek and save that which is lost.

Next Opportunities To Serve

The next mission will be to Trinidad and Tobago from July 11-20, 2009.  For this trip we will charge a fee of $1800.00 (USD) which covers flights, lodging, food and transportation while in Trinidad.  The fees may be different if you are traveling from outside the US.

After praying about a mission for late 2009 we made plans for going back to Mongolia September 1-12, 2009.  We will once again be working with our beloved brother Pastor Davaa.  We will be looking to continue the work the Lord started in us this fall.  The flights for this trip are around $2000 for now and may change.  The fee will be $1000 due to the high cost of lodging.  This covers lodging, food and transportation while in Ulaanbaatar.

For 2010 We will again go to Trinidad.  It will be January 23 thru February 1, 2009.  Fees and such should be the same as the July trip unless something happens with the cost of lodging etc....

Recent Trip Update

Thanks to those of you who prayed for us while in Trinidad.  We were extremely blessed to see God do mighty things and the miracles He performs that most people only read about in the bible happen today.  It may sound strange to some but God made a way so that many patients that may not have gotten medicine did.

We were to see patients from Mon-Fri.  By Wednesday we were nearly out of meds.  As the team packed up all the remaining bags of meds and supplies we realized we would not have enough for the rest of the week.  Little did we know that the next day the nurses opened the suit cases and brought out bags and bags that were not there the night before.  As one nurse took out supplies she asked her mom (another nurse) where all this stuff came from.  She was dumb founded but the one nurse Ashley recognized that it was God who provided and exclaimed that this was like the fishes and loaves.  Jesus fed the 5000 on a few fish and a little bread, and even had many baskets left over.

After that day we were definitely almost depleted of supplies but decided to go out Friday and see patients until we ran out.  The last patient was seen at 9:30 p.m. our longest day.  We left all the left over meds in the trunk of the mission directors trunk.  God is great and there is none like Him.   He knew we shared the saving gospel of Jesus Christ with each patient and God knew who needed to hear the gospel and brought them to us and took care of their physical needs as well as the spiritual.

Why would God do something so great in our presence. I thought and prayed about this but it didn't take long for Him to reveal to me that it had nothing to do with us as a team but it was for the people we treated, but mostly for His glory.  To God be the glory, great things He hath done.

We also visited 2 orphanages and sang and played with them and taught them how to remember the 10 Commandments.  We wanted to bring them all home.  We left the homes and the ride back was quiet and there was not a dry eye on the bus.  I am still in a stunned and in a state of awe and can't put into words how limitless our God is and wish the story could be told by someone else.  The way I tell it just does not articulate how great and mighty of a God we serve.

God bless

Andy

Mission Statement

To know Jesus and make Him known.  The goal of all mission work is to glorify God. It is our God given desire to see God worshipped in every tribe and every nation and that His name be great among the nations from the rising to the setting of the sun. (Malachi 1:11)  God's will is that none should perish.  We place no confidence in the Christian’s ability to fulfill the Great Commission, but in God's unlimited and unhindered power to accomplish all He has decreed.

As Christians we are called, commanded, and commissioned to lay down our lives so that the gospel may be preached to every tribe, to every nation under heaven.  A true gospel must be proclaimed because it is a TRUE Gospel that is the power of God to salvation (Romans1:16) We as evangelists, are committed to the equipping of the saints, to share our faith the way Jesus did.

The gospel transcends culture. Our motivation comes from compassion for the lost, the sick, the poor, and the oppressed.  If we are to be truly Christ like, we need to follow in His footsteps.

Vision

To develop and be strengthened as a witness to the Lord Jesus as part of the fulfillment of the great commission (Mt. 28:18-20), be in obedience to Jesus command to preach and heal (Lk. 9:2 and 10:9), to care for the poor and oppressed (Mt. 25:34-40 Isaiah 58:6-10), and to take the gospel to all creation (Mk. 16:15).

Medicine Is Merely A Springboard For Evangelism

The medical services provided are merely a means to share the gospel with the patients and their families.  Each patient gets witnessed to and the full gospel is preached to them.  Evangelism is our main focus as we treat patients with needs from hypertension to minor surgeries.

We either set up clinics in churches and schools or in a hospital.  The mobile clinics are a great way to reach the ones who do not have a way to travel to a hospital.  By going to a remote village, the poorest of the poor can get medical care and spiritual healing.

Biblical Evangelism

Biblical Evangelism is always law to the proud and grace to the humble.  Never in scripture will you find the good news being given to a proud un repentant sinner.  The law breaks the hardened heart of the self righteous and grace heals the broken heart.  In Luke 18 the rich young ruler asks Jesus how to receive eternal life.  Jesus threw 5 commandments at him.  He went away sad.  He did not hear the good news.

Nicodemus came to Jesus at night knowledgeable of the law and humble since he addressed Jesus as Rabbi and acknowledged that Jesus came from God.  Jesus gave him grace.

Living Waters/ Way of The Master

Biblical evangelism can be studied through the ministries of L/W and WOTM.  Please check out the links to the web sites.  You can learn how to make an atheist back slide, be able to witness to that intellectual who intimidates you, and even share the gospel with any of the cults of the world today.  Learn how to use use the law to bring the lost to Christ at www.wayofthemaster.com

Street Ministry

While we are at home we are involved in going to parades, festivals, and other events where people gather.  At these events we engage people verbally that lead to spiritual conversations.  People are more likely to talk about life and death, and very deep topics that include spirituality than most people would realize.

Though not everyone is interested in a conversation about Jesus, more people are than what I thought would be.  On finding this out it makes it easier to go out and share the good news of Jesus Christ to friends, family, co-workers, classmates, and even total strangers.  Once you get equipped on how to share your faith biblically, some of the fear goes away.  I say some because there is always that element present with me.  I fear less and less the more I share my faith.

We go to events to preach in an open air type setting to masses of folks.  Though one to one is the the easiest way, preaching in public is not only effective but legal to do anywhere in a public place.  We use unique tracts that get people at ease and open to conversations.  To see who is doing street ministry in your area or churches that train in biblical evangelism go to www.myfishinghole.com
